Description

I want to be the very best,
like no one ever was.
To build them is my test!
My childhood is my cause!
I will travel across the web,
searching far and wide
to find each Pokemon and understand
the art that's inside!
PAPERMON!

Sorry I just had to...^^

So here he is in all of his cosplay worthy glory! I decided to give him the name Char Lee (like Bruce Lee, Jet Lee, and Rock Lee, but pronounced like Charlie). He also has the nickname of Charzilla.  Currently, he is only built from the waist up, but after I retire him from cosplay in July I'll finish the rest of his body. Right now, he is set up in a way that his torso can slide into a back pack while his head and arms peak over my shoulder. The costume will hopefully give the impression that he is riding around in my backpack while I walk the con floor.

This project has been quite the undertaking. I wanted to learn from previous lifesized mistakes because the last Pokemon I built for cosplay purposes was all but destroyed after only one hour of floor time. So in order account for this, I build Charmeleon out of incredibly sturdy and light weight board.

Modifications:
The original model can be found here jav-papercraft.blogspot.com/20… by javierini
I blew up the template so that it's sized matched the parameters provided by the video game poke'dex. It took three tries to get it right because I had trouble accounting for the model's pose.
The eyes, mouth, and teeth are all additions that I made. I hand made the tongue, hand painted the mouth, re-textured the eyes with a better image and laminated them, and re-purposed little cone-shape disposable cups as the teeth. Also, I made actual indention for the nostrils.

This is the first project of this kind that I have built and I am pretty please with how it turned out.

Comments and feedback are always welcome ^^
