Papercraft Optimus Prime by Arc-Caster135 Papercraft Optimus Prime by Arc-Caster135

Standing nearly 2 feet tall, comprised of over 750 individual pieces, and built entirely out of paper...ladies and gentlemen, the crown jewel of my pepakura collection, OPTIMUS PRIME! I built him over my summer break. I got the template for this awesome papercraft model from paper-replika.com. They did an unbelievable job on this thing. It is so detailed that the head alone contains 90 parts. If you're thinking about building this model don't let this picture fool you. My version is only 2 feet tall, but that was after I shrunk the original template by over 50%. If you go by their original template Optimus will be massive.

The template is a free download at paper-replica.com

Do you remember the exact size % you scaled it down? I'm planning to use these files to build a full size (8ft) costume and I'm thinking scaling the original up to 200% might work...going by your measurements. So you're saying it would stand nearly 4ft tall in its original scale? Any info and pointers you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and AWESOME JOB!!! It looks really good!

Do you remember the exact measurements that you shrunk the original template by? I'm planning to do a full (approx 8ft) costume build using this template but I'm not 100% sure how big the original files are. I was thinking just doubling the size to 200% of the original. What are your thoughts on this? Any other input or ideas would be great also. Thank you and AMAZING JOB!!! It looks really cool!

Thanks! ^^ I'm not sure about the exact measurements, but in order to shrink the original template to this size I set my printer settings to print 2 pages of the template per one sheet of paper. Unfortunately my method only works for shrinking templates. According to the web, the original size is roughly 120 cm (3.9 ft). So increasing the size by 200% should give you the template to a 7.8 ft tall Optimus. Also paper-replika.com just released a cosplay sized AOE Optimus helmet. That helmet may hold more of percentages and measurements that you are looking for.

Note: This Optimus model is extremely detailed and accurate, but I did notice a few slight coloration errors. I found that he was missing the blue flames around his wrists and the two little "A" shaped pieces above the golden hydraulics in his arm were supposed to be blue instead of red. I fixed this on my version by simply painting what was missing.

I hope this helps and good luck. I can't wait to see the end results. I'm sure it'll be amazing. ^^
